What might be the most important idea of the “now” and “next” of network marketing ?

by Perry Davis

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” – Jane Howard

Over the past years the word “tribe” has become increasingly popular.  The idea of a tribe isn’t new. Man (and woman) have formed tribes since the dawn of time – for safety, food, socializing and survival.  The “tribe” instinct – the thing inside us that drives us to join a gang, the geeks, the jocks, the nerds, the greasers and later the church, the Rotary, a fraternity or sorority is still intact. You’re already a member of some tribes without even realizing it. We long for connectivity.  We’re seeking our tribe. This isn’t a new idea.

What significance does tribes have in today’s society?

In today’s society there are existing technology and offerings available to these tribes that weren’t offered just a few years ago, specifically online social marketing tools.  The Internet has made the world smaller.

  • Instead of writing letters and waiting weeks for them to arrive at their destination, we now write emails, and they arrive instantly.
  • Instead of watching the nightly newscast or reading the morning newspaper, we can find the news at our fingertips at any second of the day.
  • Instead of joining the local club, we can now join any club in the world, with people that have the exact same tastes as we do.

The Internet has made it easy for people to communicate with each other. Best selling author, Seth Godin, in his book Tribes writes:

A tribe is a group of people connected to one other, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea.” Tribes need leadership. You can’t have a tribe without a leader, or a leader without a tribe. Tribes make our lives better. And leading a tribe is the best life of all.

Tribes may be the most important idea of the “now” and “next” of network marketing.

  • Tribe Marketing is considered to be an absolute game changer in the way Internet Marketers market their businesses online.
  • Tribe marketing can give you a big boost and help you get more exposure all over the Internet
  • Tribe marketing can help you get more traffic to your blog and more leads for your MLM, network marketing business.
  • The more times a piece of content is retweeted, liked, or bookmarked, the more relevant Google sees that content thus resulting in a higher search engine ranking.

Tribe Syndication has become a trend in the online advertising world.

Bloggers affiliate themselves with other bloggers to promote each other’s material. TSA Mastery is a very effective tribe marketing content syndication system. The 3 Step Syndication System is all about working together as a team to gain more comments on your blog, more traffic to your blog and connecting with like minded individuals to help you expose your blog message to new audiences online.   TSA Mastery is much more than just a place to gain traffic, receive extra syndications for your content and get extra comments to your blog.  TSA has given me the opportunity to learn about Tribe Marketing.

Seth Godin Explains Why You Need a Tribe

The power of the “tribe” is immense and is there for the taking for anyone, bold enough and inspiring enough to harness and motivate it’s potential.   Enjoyed this conversation with Seth Godin  about tribes and why we all need one.

Great post on the importance of tribes! Tribe Syndication Association (TSA) is definitely a tribe that has a simple system in place. And I agree with you in that a tribe does WAY more for you than adding traffic to your site, approving comments for your posts, or gaining syndications. Personally, TSA has allowed me expose who I am and what I’m about to a community of trusted individuals that are like-minded, professional, and committed to their desires.

Networking and building relationships, and more importantly building lasting FRIENDSHIPS is priceless. That’s what TSA has done for me that is soo rewarding.

Thanks and keep sharing the goods with us Perry!

Hi Perry,

Very nice article! Tribes seem very interesting. I guess people like to join them because it can help them in the long run. I haven’t taken part in them yet, but maybe I should some day.

Thanks for the read.

Hi Perry,

I have to agree with you a tribe is a very important part of building trust and recognition in the business world. I use twitter and I have noticed my klout score has risen and I have no doubt a part of that is being an active member of TSA tribe. Also due to my membership I read blogs every week to keep my skills updated and as a result I can over more value to clients. Take care Rosemary

There are lots of things we can do to get Google to “see” our blogs. A very important thing to remember is “variety”. The more places we get backlinks, and the more different kinds of backlinks, the better off we are. And what I like about TSA is that with the group changing every week, not all of our comments and backlinks are coming from the same few IP addresses. Google is looking for “naturally” occurring variety. TSA gives us a great head start on that.

How funny, I just finished reading Tribes by Seth Godin the other day!
Great book! Tribes are indeed powerful…people like to feel like they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

I enjoyed the points you touched on in regards to how much easier it is now to communicate. The internet has definitely made the world smaller as you mentioned!

Loved this post and the way you described the workings of a tribe.

Hi Perry,
You have done an excellent job of presenting what is a Tribe and the value in belonging to one. I think everyone wants to belong. Belong to something….to feel a part of a family, group, club, society, etc, to just feel like you fit in to something, that you are a part of something, that you care about others and the care about you. We are all in this together, helping each other.
Thanks so much Perry!

I am part of a couple of tribes. Interesting that the idea of tribes has been around for a very long time. We all like to hang out with people who we connect with. It certainly helps if they have the same ideas and same goals and aspirations. They are a positive impact on my life and I love being part of them. Glad to be a part of a tribe!

I joined a tribe a couple of weeks ago after working all by myself on my blog for that last 20 months. I’ve been serious about my blog for 8 months. The information out there is so overwhelming for people building and marketing blogs. I can look to my leaders, whom I respect, and see what their recommendations are for plugins, etc. So far they have been “right on” and have saved me lots of time and energy. The other tribes members have really helped me to get some marketing or syndication for my blog posts and it’s been very exciting for me!

Tribes are so great to be apart of, the whole idea of people helping each other while working toward their own goals is a great concept. The stronger the group the stronger the individual, and TSA is by far the best I have ever seen. So to all my friends in TSA I hope I help you as much as you help me.

I so enjoyed Seth’s book when it came out…small but mighty! you’re right about the tribes and I find it interesting that so many comments have been made here by folks who weren’t interested in tribes at firs when it is such a primal drive of we humans. I just loved Seth Godin’s interview. My favorite words were the question “Do you want to be a wandering generality or a meaninful specific?” I have spent a lot of time being a wandering generality online, studying and learning about all the many possibilities. Now I have begun to focus my attention on my passion – creating love and healing relationships through love. The Tribe Syndication Association (http://budurl.com/MyTSA) has been an incredible support for me, providing feedback and sharing my work with others. None of us can really do it all alone.

I agree wholeheartedly about tribes and TSA in particular. I have been a member for over a year and not only has it been beneficial for the growth of my traffic but it has enabled me to learn and grow as a blogger and start to mature where I feel comfortable blogging regularly and providing content to my readers. I do feel that there is a need to take the tribe concept to the next level which is a mastermind and everyone should belong to at least one but probably two to three because you gain so much from the collaborative thinking that takes place and referral networking.

Great article.

Perry,
this is one of the best presentations on two of my favorite subjects. Tribes and TSA. It leaves a pleasant taste in my mouth.

I agree, with the whole concept yet, this is nothing that is new. We all at TSA understand this method of team building and supporting others withing that group.

This Tribe thing is the same as some people have been doing all their lives. Joining a dedicated set of people with the same goal. Supporting each other along the way to success for all members as each has determined it to be. No one getting left behind. All ethical activities only. Building lifetime relationships bonded on trust.

There are cultures that have been having this concept as a lifestyle. It is just we American born are so amazed that it really works. Just have fun and enjoy the ride. It’s a wonderful lifestyle to live. Exciting and always adventures each day.

Excellent article explaining the benefits of becoming involved in a tribe such as the TSA.

As you state in your article “tribes” are nothing new, they have been a part of our culture since the beginning of time. A man’s (or woman’s) need or want to be included in a group with common interest for the mutual benefit of the whole tribe.

Learn, Teach, Share – That’s what being part of a tribe is all about!

Hi Perry,

Yep, I think this “Tribe” thing may be catching on:)

Actually, as a proud member of TSA Mastery, I have met some wonderful like minded entrepreneurs, like yourself.

A Tribe or community of like minded individuals is ESSENTIAL to accelerate your success online.

Why try to do it alone when you can have the support of a dedicated community?

I have seen a dramatic increase to my blog traffic. I have always believed in the importance of blog syndication, but I would syndicate and it was never reciprocated…very frustrating to say the least.

But, with TSA and other “organized” blog syndication communities, we all work together to help one another get more exposure.

But, as Marty mentioned…it is a commitment. But, the value and benefits are amazing to those who put in the time and effort. TSA has a system which allows you to see GREAT results and it doesn’t have to be too time consuming as long as you make a daily effort.

To your continued success,
